Spring

The inhabitants, following the English tradition, take great pride in their gardens. In Spring they will be looking their best, full of colourful flowers and blossom on the trees. Hagley Park, in the centre of the Garden City, has a magnificent display of flowering cherry trees.  Christchurch is the ideal place for keen Gardeners to enjoy family life.  A large majority of homes here have beautiful well cared for gardens that enhance the street appeal of your neighborhood adding and maintaining the value in your property.

Summer

There is something different to see and do within a short trip from Christchurch, in any direction.  To the east lie the open ocean and Banks Peninsula, featuring sheltered bays, sandy beaches, bush clad valleys. Boating, tramping, a visit to the wineries and the French settlers’ harbourside village of Akaroa are key peninsula attractions.  To the west, past fertile plains and braided rivers, are forested foothills and lakes.  A journey north reveals green rolling hills, forests and long, empty beaches, with the whale-watching centre of Kaikoura about 2 hours’ drive away, whilst an excursion south passes through farmland and crosses two of Canterbury’s pristine rivers, ideal for fishing, whitewater rafting or kayaking. Clearly  residents have a superb outdoor lifestyle at their doorsteps.

Autumn

The Autumn trees look splendid with the change of colours .Its a good time to go tramping up at Victoria Park, walking through the trees .Take a picnic, dine overlooking the beautiful vistas of the city below. The days may often be warm, with the odd shower.

Winter

Winter is a good time for residents of  Christchurch you can go skiing or snowboarding, the nearest ski fields are only an hour and a half away. The snow is great, the views breathtaking and the slopes are uncrowded by European standards, no long queues for the lifts here! Days can still sometimes be warm enough to wear a T-shirt but usually you’ll need a jacket, it will be cold when the sun goes down, especially on the ski slopes.
